  6. Why carry an ankle med kit or EDC IFAK? You should carry an ankle EDC med kit or IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) if you are serious about first-response and wish to be prepared to answer a medical emergency at virtually any time. Trauma kits are meant to deal with major injuries, typically life-threatening, and to keep someone alive until expert medical care can be reached. First Aid Kits are intended to deal with very basic, and superficial wounds, like your everyday cuts and scrapes - where a hospital/doctor is generally not needed.
  8. Does the EDC ankle medical kit come in different sizes? No, the EDC Ankle Medical Kit is One Size Fits All and features a large section of Velcro so users can find the fit that best suits them.

Everyday Carry Medical

Our EDC Ankle Medical Kit gives you the ability to comfortably carry medical and some overflow everyday carry items.

In the world of self-defense, I hear folks talk about the importance of carrying medical.

The only problem is that they carry multiple knives, a gun, a reload, and you guessed it, NO MEDICAL.

If you really want to protect and defend life, you are more likely to need emergency medical than any of our stabby / shooty things (yes those are real words, as of now). The difficulty is that carrying medical can be bulky and your phone and keys are taking up most of your only available real-estate. The ankle though is usually fair game to those who wear pants regularly.

Our Everyday Carry (EDC) ankle first aid kit has some huge competitive advantages over the few that exist on the market.

    2 years in...

Posted by Peter Baergen on Dec 6th 2023

I've been wearing this very, very close to daily for two years now (see initial review "Great EDC Addition" below), and have run it through the washing machine a couple times as well. Still highly recommend. The velcro is still good, and while the inner padding is showing signs of wear and tear, I expect it will continue to be a solid and functional piece of kit for at least another year or two. It's been worn to the office, on a couple of disaster relief trips, while crawling around in crawlspaces, while hiking and biking, and through day-to-day life at home with a garden, animals, and some acreage... and is holding up well. Two things to be aware of that have come up more recently: first, be mindful of the packaging of the medical components. The way some of the edges have to be folded to fit has caused tiny holes and tears in the packaging of the elastic bandage, and I probably need to check the chest seal packaging again as well. Not sure if it's something that can be helped, but if you lead any level of active lifestyle and want sterile components in the event you need to use your kit, you'll probably need to replace some components periodically. Second, if you were the kit with boots, it's liable to ride atop the boot and wear holes in the cuff. Not a big deal for me, as said boot cuffs are almost always covered by both the kit and the pant leg, but if you try to keep your boots looking shiny for cargo short season, this kit may cause some unexpected wear and tear on your prized footwear. (This seemed to be less of a problem when I was wearing a lower sneaker/hiking-type shoe.)

    Ankle medical kit

Posted by Terrance Blanck on Jul 5th 2023

Absolutely love the kit definitely took the two week waiting time, but for the good quality gear it’s worth it. Wasn’t a fan of the compression bandage it felt very bulky. Took up space, but other than that it disappears under my work pants.

    Good In Many Contexts

Posted by Dillon Awes on Feb 27th 2023

I have had this ankle kit for a couple of years now. I usually carry it in my backpack (which I always have with me) as a secondary trauma kit. If I can’t have my backpack however, it’s nice to be able to have the option to have medical on you in any environment or setting. I would highly recommend wearing bootcut jeans/wide leg slacks because this will look ridiculous with skinny jeans. What kind of war poet wears skinny jeans anyways? When I fly, I always take the trauma shears out, but everything else is 100% good to go with the TSA. Overall, great purchase.

    EDC Ankle

Posted by Brandon Flesher on Jan 1st 2023

From reading reviews and watching videos on this ankle kit, as well as other kits. I recalled hearing a tip of making sure to fold the edges of gauze, seals, etc. First putting it together I didn’t think there was a way to get the elastic bandage to fit. Wore it around for about a half hour and thought, “hmm, I wonder if I can cram that bandage in? They did supply it after all “. Moved some stuff around and, well, it fits. Everything fits with a little coaxing. And yes remember to fold the edges out, away from your ankle.

    Great with riding jeans!

Posted by Anthony Ayub on Apr 12th 2022

Been using this kit under riding jeans on my motorcycle for the last two months. They are slightly bulkier than regular jeans so it's pretty much unnoticeable. Great addition to daily carry! Keeps my medical supplies on me if I get separated from the bike.

    Great EDC Addition

Posted by Peter on Dec 29th 2021

Have been wearing daily for the better part of a month and have not been disappointed. It's definitely not invisible on my lean frame (ironically, the observant onlooker would likely think "oh look, he's got a gun," but the joke's on them because it's not on my ankle), but not bad either as I tend to wear loose fitting pants. I've taken the liberty to customize the contents and will continue to do so until I find the perfect combo that balances concealability with accessibility. Overall, the ability to carry a decent amount of medical in a relatively concealable package is awesome and I would highly recommend that you consider it if you ever find yourself in a situation where someone might get seriously injured (which is all of you, so save up for a couple months and buy the thing).

    Great product!

Posted by William Burleson on Nov 18th 2021

I take my EDC items very seriously! I have been carrying CCW pistol for years, but recently began carrying medical items on my person. Statistically, I feel that it is more likely that I find myself in a situation where I would use medical equipment than my gun. However, I don’t want to carry a tactical load out everywhere I go and I only have so many pockets! This is the best quality product I have found that allows me to carry a full blowout kit/IFAK on me discreetly everywhere I go no matter what type of clothes I am wearing. I have only found two main drawbacks to this kit: 1. I would like to see it come in different sizes. I found that it was a little too big for my ankle. In order to get maximum comfort and conceal-abilty I had to cut it shorter and resew it. By doing this, it fits and conceals great, but I lost one of the discreet pockets. 2. I cannot conceal it wearing shorts. I solved this by finding a large elastic band, sewing velcro on it and using it to secure the kit as a waist/belly band. Now I can wear it with any type of clothing.
