How to Pick a Padlock, Combination Lock, or Door Lock
Ranger Battalion taught me how to bypass locks. Kick them, hit them with something hard, or when all else fails…blow everything up.
In the event you don’t want to destroy everything, Bryan Black of Imminent Threat Solutions ‘ITS Tactical’ is full of all kinds of clever lock picking (or bypassing) knowledge. I had the opportunity to hang with Bryan recently in Dallas, Texas and he showed me the minimum 4 tools he recommends that I get. You will need at a minimum the EZ decoder, a Quick Stick, and the Bogota Entry Toolset – get yours at the ITS Store.
- The EZ decoder is designed to open a combination lock by slipping in after the 3rd combination wheel and bypassing the internal locking mechanism. Yep, it’s just that easy. Just kidding. You will have to watch the below video for all this stuff, but the above tools will be what you need to get going, so get a move on.
- The Quick Sticks are used for bypassing padlocks, and wow, those actually are really easy and alarmingly fast. Try to insert the Quick Stick straight in to the padlock as far as it will go and give it a little push and the lock should spring open. Again, watch the video.
- The Bogota Entry Toolset is awesome for opening dead bolts and other locks, but this one is going to require some practice and I’d advise getting a clear practice lock from the ITS website. I suck at this, but I’m getting better. Check out the video and hope you folks enjoy.
