AR-15 Light Review: Streamlight Flashlight vs. Surefire Scout Light

Streamlight Protac vs Surefire Scout
I was hesitant to slip out from under my Surefire security blanket and try a Streamlight flashlight.
Surefire has been the gold standard in the tactical community for flashlight reliability and functionality and continues to this day to offer good stuff. I carried a surefire overseas when I was in the military and they always served me well. What prompted me to begin testing the Streamlight flashlights was observing that a ton of law enforcement folks were rocking them. And the Streamlight flashlights cost nearly 1/3rd when you want to outfit an AR-15 with a touchpad (as seen in image below).
The Streamlight Protac Railmount HL-X grabbed my attention because the design seemed similar to the Surefire m600 Scout Light, but can be purchased for around a quarter of the cost (around $120). The Streamlight flashlight puts out 1,000 lumens of light and possesses a blinding hot center, as well as a bright, wide throw. The light mounts on a standard 1913 Picatinny rail and comes with 2 caps so you can choose between a push button or a pressure pad. Only time will tell regarding the reliability of the Streamlight, but so far the light seems to be tough and trustworthy.
