Africa Adventure with Warrior Poet Society

May 20th 2020

If you haven’t heard yet – we’re going to Africa, folks…and we’re inviting you to come with us.

There are still spots available to join Warrior Poet Society on a 10-day escapade in East Africa during January 2021 (14th-23rd). Expect the experience of a lifetime, and be a part of the creation of a brand new WPSN episode.

This trip will bring you from elephant orphanages to Swahili churches, from hot geysers and rocky cliffs to volcanoes and hot-air balloons. Before we’re through, we will have braved the African savannah and thrown spears with the Masai warriors.

Day 1

We will make our departure from Atlanta airport and begin our journey to Nairobi, Kenya.

Day 2

Upon arrival at the Nairobi airport, you will be greeted, assisted with luggage, and taken by private transfer to the Kimbo PEFA Church Guest House.

Day 3

In the morning, we’ll travel to the Giraffe Center where you’ll feed giraffes while getting an up-close view. Afterwards, we’ll head to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and visit the baby elephants that have been orphaned by poachers. We’ll spend the afternoon enjoying fun and games in the company of the welcoming people of Kenya. This will be one of the many opportunities during the trip to get a first-hand experience of Kenyan culture. Dinner will be served at the Kimbo PEFA Guest House, where we’ll stay overnight.

Day 4

Join Kenyan believers for a dynamic Swahili worship service at Kimbo Church. Take part in the powerful, moving worship and hear a special message from the pastor. After church, journey west towards the Great Rift Valley and the Sopa Lodge at Lake Naivasha. Set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the lodge is home to a resident giraffe, Waterbuck, and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys. It’s also a night stop for the hippos when they come and trim the grass. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha.

Day 5

Journey into Hell’s Gate National Park, famous for its hot geysers and captivating scenery. We’ll cycle through the park to take in the surrounding vistas while watching for wild game and exotic birds. Come face-to-face with Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower, volcanic plugs that stretch into the clouds. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a boat ride on stunning Lake Naivasha with a stop at Crescent Island Game Park where you can walk among the giraffe, zebra, and more.

Day 6

Travel to Mt. Longonot National Park in the Great Rift Valley. Hike up the massive dormant volcano to the crater rim where you’ll have one of the best views in all of Kenya. Gaze at the spectacular Lake Naivasha area and peer into the crater teeming with wildlife.

Day 7

Begin the morning with a flight to Masai Mara National Park. Catch a first look of the breathtaking African savannah out of the plane window. Upon landing at the airstrip, we’ll be greeted by safari guides and taken to the camp to enjoy lunch. Explore the world-famous Masai Mara on an afternoon walking safari. We’ll spend the night camping out at the safari site.

Day 8

This morning you will have the option to take a sunrise hot air balloon safari over the Masai Mara. Watch the savannah come to life on a picturesque adventure and take in the astounding beauty of the African plain by morning light. In the afternoon, test your prowess through a spear competition with Masai warriors. Feast on authentic cuisine while enjoying dinner in the African bush.

Day 9

Prepare to be amazed as you see the exquisite savannah take shape under the rising sun. Get an up-close view of some of the most striking animals on the planet during a morning game drive. Transfer to the airstrip for your return flight to Nairobi, where dinner will be served at the famous Carnivore restaurant.
